Eastfield's sports teams have held winning records for their respective seasons this year. We commend them for putting the campus on the map by competing all over the Metroplex, and the state of Texas, to show their Harvester pride.

It's clear how much effort the players put in this year, but we can't forget the people who helped make them winners - the coaches.

From recruitment to national competition, our teams strive to be the best. Tennis coach Chris Geyman showed this to all of EFC when tennis player Sofia Molina won the singles title for Div. III at the 2008 National Junior College Athletic Association Tennis Tournament. Molina and tennis team captain Rachel Schomer were also the National Women's Doubles runners-up and second team All-Americans.

Despite an injury Molina recieved this season, she recuperated and got back in the swing of things and became a perfect example of a team player.

In March, baseball coach Michael Martin and his team defeated Mountain View College in conference play with scores like 31-7, 9-0 and 13-9.

Brutal.

And we can't forget soccer.

The new women's soccer coach Amy Miller will be getting her new team pumped for a new season. She has shown high initiative, she is even working around her team's work and school schedules, and plans to spend all summer filling a 27-player roster.

As for basketball, athletic director Anthony Fletcher makes sure his men are kept in shape through intensive practices so they will have a better season this fall. They took us to the Metropolitan Athletic Conference during the spring and, although they lost in the tournament, they never gave up.

Congratulations to the athletic department on all your hard work - and to all the players for striving to be the best.

And for faculty, staff and students - let's do our part - go to those games, cheer our teams with pride and fill those stands.
