Fast food, big bucks

Rising prices of major chains lead to not eating out

Doesn't it seem like the price of fast food has gone up?

Just this morning I paid over $8 for breakfast at McDonald's.

This is ridiculous.

I only bought a hash brown and two McMuffins. The food isn't even that good. It's bland, stale and tastes like the cow had a skin disease before it was slaughtered.

The price hike is not exclusive to breakfast food either.

I used to pay under $5 for a dinner consisting of medium fries, two double cheeseburgers and a small coke. Now it costs $5.50.

What happened?

Granted it's not a major increase but still. Have fries become a commodity? Is beef in short supply?

Distressed, I sought refuge at my local Taco Bueno but to my disappointment they were more expensive then McDonald's.

For three beef muchcacos and a small Coke I pay just under $8. Now, I enjoy a muchaco as much as the next fellow, but for that price there better be some damn tasty pieces of pita bread on my sandwich. A few years ago I muchacos only cost $1 a piece. I don't know what happened to that price, but I though it was a fair price and I got enough food to fill my gut.

As a last refuge I sought cheap sustenance from a Subway. I figured since they have the daily sub at a reasonable price I would be able to eat and save a few bucks. But to no avail. For a man of my size a six-inch sandwich just isn't enough. But if I try to buy a foot long the price is upwards of $7. That's ridiculous, $7 for some bread, meat and lettuce. I could buy the ingredients of this sandwich from my local grocer and put the food together myself but I don't have time to do this everyday.

Sadly I don't see an end to such atrocities in the future. I'm sure more price hikes are to come leaving me with the inevitable choice of having to eat Campbell's Thick and Chunky for dinner instead of fast food. But perhaps that is for the best. I will lose a few pounds and become a culinary master of the microwave.
