Leticia Tudón

Born in San Luis Potosi, Leticia Tudón is a current student of Upward Bound at Eastfield College. She currently attends Skyline High School and will begin the 2008-2009 school year as a senior. In a united and loving family of 8, Leticia has been able to manage everyday life. She has 5 siblings ranging from 5 to 16 years of age. Leticia does not want to be a role model to her siblings because as she said, “I push my brothers and sisters to do way better than me.” Her family doesn’t stop there; she also has 4 parakeets, one of which she personally named “Shakira.”

To help relieve stress, Leticia turns on her cell phone and puts on her earphones and listens to music. She feels that music is one of the many ways to express your feelings without telling anyone. Being that sports runs in the Tudón family, Leticia loves to work out by playing soccer in her backyard. This is the only time she can be active and be fit. In the afternoons, you will always see two girls walking together in the park. Leticia and her oldest sister, Rosaura, take long walks in the park. This being that this is the only time they have alone to gossip or talk about major problems.

Graduating with a rank of #1 in her senior class at Skyline is her immediate goal. Thinking about being valedictorian at high school always puts a warm smile on her face. Leticia plans to attend SMU and major in mathematics. She even dreams of becoming a math teacher being that teaching others is a natural thing that comes to her. She plans to attend SMU campus because like she said, “it’s my campus….I fell in love with it since my first visit.”

Leticia sees herself married and with kids later in life. One of her most important life goals is to buy her mother the house of her dreams. Her mother has worked so hard for her children to succeed that Leticia would like to surprise her with this amazing gift.

One of the reasons she choose SMU was to be close to her family so she would love to stay in Dallas, Texas. She has decided to major in the complicated world of math because it’s the one thing she feels passionate about. In order to accomplish these goals she has to be determined. Leticia Tudón is very competitive and will accomplish anything she wants. She is not familiar with excuses or barriers being that she doesn’t let anything intervene in her life.

“Don’t give anyone the satisfaction to look down upon you.” This is the motto that 17 year old; Leticia Tudón gives to everyone that works hard in life.
